Parade Wagon
Safety Tips
General
·
It
is the purpose and intent of the wagons to be used in parades at slow speed and
operated on a parade route. They are not
designed for use as an “off road” or “all-terrain” transport.
·
The
tow vehicle will be a tractor operating in low gear.
·
Wagons
should be attached to the tractor with a hitch pin and safety clip in place.
·
Check
local parade requirements that may require the use of a “slow moving vehicle”
(SMV) emblem or lights on the wagon.
Passengers
·
Wagon
seating space is for 12 average size adults evenly distributed with 6 on each
side.
·
Adult
supervision is recommended when children are riding in the wagon to ensure all
remain seated.
·
Steps
with hand rails provide a safe environment to board and de-board the wagon.
·
The
wagon should be at a complete and secure stop when loading and unloading
persons. An assisting person at the steps will add to their safety.
·
When
on the wagon, persons should remain seated at ALL times.
·
No standing on seat benches is allowed at any time.
·
Securely
close and latch rear entry safety
chain after all persons are on before moving the wagon.
